          A pilgrimage of inspiration, activity and silence in some of the most significant places of Spain, visiting Avila and Segovia and the sacred places of Saint Teresa and Saint John of the Cross. Following part by walking the last 110 km of the famous Cammino di Santiago (World Heritage site by UNESCO). You'll cross small villages typical of the Galizia region, to the arrival point of the millennial pilgrimage to Santiago with the visits of the Saint James casket.

 
          Will be wonderful to walk along the way that has been walked by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims over the centuries, with the hope to live a deep experience at a hman and spiritual level. Santiago with Rome and Jerusalem is considered one of the three most important cities of the Christanity.
 
          On the practical side, in order to participate is required physical condition that allows you to easily walk 16 km. per day average for 7 consecutive days. We are pleased to share with you this first edition of the Walk to Santiago. Each day, there will be moments dedicated to the practice of Yogananda's spiritual exercises, such as energization exercises and meditation on the breath.
 
          Nayaswami Shivani, Nayaswami Indrani and Gopala Aschieri will accompany you on this extraordinary journey, expert guides of Ananda Italy and Spain who will take care of you to make this pilgrimage joyful and a rewarding experience for body, mind and soul. At the start you will receive the pilgrim's credential paper to testify and remember your personal journey.

Programme:

 

Avila

We will spend 3 nights at the convent of Saint Teresa of Avila. You'll meditate many times to the sacred places of the Saint and there will be a guided visit to the Avila's Cathedral.  You'll walk thee roads throughout the city.

Segovia

One full day to visit Segovia with a guided tour of the monastery of Saint John of the cross and meditation on his tomb. Guided visit of Segovia, with the splendid Gothic cathedral, the architectural masterpiece of the Roman aqueduct and the Alcazar palace.

 

Walking through: Sarria- Portomarin- Airexe- O Coto- Castaneda- Salceda- Lavacolla

We will move to Sarria by private bus in order to start the following the last part of the Camino de Santiago, on the ancient French route. The day-routes are fairly easy for those who are already physically trained: from 12 to 23 km. every day: about 5-6 hours of actual walking, for a total of 110 km. Every day is included the transport of luggages service by a local company, so you’ll walk lightly with a small backpack or even without.

Santiago de Compostela

Splendid city founded after the death of St. James the apostle of Jesus.

We will spend 2 nights in Santiago in order to visit the splendid cathedral, the Saint's tomb and attend the pilgrim's mass with a special botafumeiro ceremony. We will take a guided tour of the cathedral museum and stroll through the beautiful city. At the start you will receive the pilgrim's credentia, to take the stamps along the way and then be able to get the compostela at the arrival: a sheet that attests the participation and performance of the famous pilgrimage.

After Santiago the group will return home.

 


Practical information!

 

Climate

We hope it will be the best period, certainly the less crowded to make the walk. The weather in this period is ideal but sometimes variable: temperatures can range from 5-8 degrees at night to 20-25 degrees at day and we can get rainy day. This pilgrimage requires mental flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions.

 

Accommodations

Overnight stay 12 nights with half board service. All our hotels have been inspected and selected and there is a good comfort in every place. Accommodation is provided in double or triple rooms with a separate option for the single room. Towels and sheets are included in every structure, optional laundry service. There will be the plus of a swimming pool, so bring your swimsuit and cap.

 

Food

Half-board includes breakfast and dinner (lunch not included). The provided food will be all vegetarian. Contact us in case of special dietary needs.

 

Itinerary

The roads are mostly white roads or paths but there are also asphalted parts nearby the towns, especially at the beginning and end of the day.

 

Physical conditions

This pilgrimage requires a good physical resistance to walk distances of about 16 km per day average for 7 consecutive days. We suggest you to check with your doctor if your physical conditions are suitable for this pilgrimage. We will recommend a simple training program at the time of your registration. Everyone can walk at their own pace, with a light backpack containing the minimum necessary or without backpack (luggage will be transported every day from place to place).

Guides and transport

We're very happy that Nayaswami Shivani, one of the best guides and spiritua teacher of Annada Assisi will be guiding you throughout this pilgrimage along with Nayaswami Indrani from Ananda Leon in Spain (Ananda Yoga teacher and spirituale guide in Spain) and Gopala Aschieri, a guide and monk resident at Ananda Assisi. They will take care of you during your journey. Transportation will be by private buses.

Individual participation fees, excluding flights:

12 nights with half-board service

Double or triple room without flight: € 1,300.00 per person

Supplement for single room (limited availability): € 350.00 per person

Payments: registration and balance before July 5th

If you choose a double room but do not have a partner, we will try to find one among the participants. If this is not possible or if you prefer to stay in a single room, you will have to pay the supplement.

Optional travel cancellation policy: 4% of the total trip.
