For Kriyabans and Disciples
The spine is the highway to the Infinite. Your own body is the temple of God. It is within your self that God must be realized. Whatever places of pilgrimages you visit outwardly, and whatever outward rituals you perform, the ultimate ‘pilgrimage’ must be within. And the ultimate religious rite must be the offering of your life-force on the altar of inner God-communion. This is the path of Kriya Yoga. —Paramhansa Yogananda, The Essence of Self-Realization

If you understand the need for certain basic attitudes, you’ll go much faster in Kriya. Those attitudes include attunement with the guru, devotion, renunciation of attachment and desire. You can’t easily achieve these attitudes just by reading the lessons; much is gained by a processes of osmosis, by mixing with others who are steeped in the teachings, by absorbing them into yourself. — Swami Kriyananda

Kryia Yoga is not given until the devotee has practiced other highly advanced techniques first, preparing his mind for the greater blessing of that highest technique. Experience has shown me the necessity of this general rule. It is very good to have devotion. Devotion plus determined effort in the right direction, cannot fail to take you to the goal you are seeking. Paramhansa Yogananda in a letter to a disciple, 1951
